Topic Mode and Rationale @00 word

After giving some thought to any specific action plan(s) to be encouraged, the other key part of this assignment is to choose an appropriate mode for how this advocacy might work (e.g., oral, written, visual, digital, live, online, recorded, etc.).

You will be given an opportunity to justify your choice of mode, so the choice itself needs to be a rhetorically sound, deliberate, and based on the conditions under which the desired audience will encounter the advocacy piece. Examples include a short video, a speech/public talk of some sort, a podcast, a brief written appeal to be placed in an appropriate venue, a visual flyer or poster, some sort of flash performance, etc.

The aims of this assignment are twofold: 1) to demonstrate an awareness of what constitutes effective advocacy (e.g., its differences from persuasion), and 2) to show a strong awareness of the rhetorical benefits of different modes of communication,as well as their weaknesses.

Part 1

Topic and Mode Rationale: You will submit a topic with a 200-word rationale for the mode of choice (with at least 3cited sources) detailing why the issue is relevant to public policy and the mode of choice is being chosen. MY CHOSEN TOPIC IS THE STIGMA AGAINST MENTAL ILLNESS. NEED DONE IN 12 HOURS OR LESS

Guidelines for the Unit 4 Exam:

For the Unit 4 Exam, download the file attached above. The file includes a set of documents, as well as four sections of questions related to the documents and time period being covered in class. For your paper, answer all of the questions in each section. The total word count for all four sections together must be more than 1000 words in length. Direct quotes do not count toward the required word count.

Research and Citations:

The Unit Exams are not timed, so you may use the textbook, videos, assigned documents, or other outside sources. In the case of the textbook and the videos, only direct quotes need to be cited, requiring only the author’s last name in parentheses. Outside sources (books, websites, etc.) may also be used, but in this case, all information must be cited and must be listed in a works cited (or bibliography) at the end of the essay. For your citations, please use Chicago, MLA, or APA. You will submit your paper through plagiarism checking software, so be sure to cite any and all direct quotes.  For help with citations, see the “History / Writing Help” section of the course menu.

How to submit your exam:

All four sections of the Unit 4 Exam must be submitted together in a single word processing document. The Unit 4 Exam is worth 100 points of the final grade and will be due by 11:55 PM on the date listed in the course calendar. All papers must be submitted through the course website and must be one of the following file types: .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .txt. Do NOT submit .pdf, .pages, or google doc files.

Interagency Collaboration, No plage, need 6/29

Travers argues that information sharing in general has improved significantly since the attacks of 9/11. He proceeds to deconstruct many popular arguments made by others claiming that intelligence gathering and information sharing, as practiced by entities in the United States today, are flawed. He also discusses legal, policy-based, and regulatory obstacles that impair reasonable intelligence and information collection and processing.

After reading this piece, complete the following:

  • Define (that is, “operationalize”) the concepts of intelligence versus information
  • Do differences in these terms matter?
  • How might either be easier—or more difficult—to share with other agencies?
    • Also consider if some levels of government or sectors of society might be more or less amenable to sharing information. (For example, private sector entities that own and operate critical infrastructure upon which the nation or communities rely might hesitate to share proprietary information that makes them less competitive, economically. Is their reluctance reasonable?)
  • Research, summarize, critically evaluate, and report at least 3 of the significant information-sharing problems and challenges (and key agencies) reported in the 9/11 Commission Report.
    • For each of these challenges, use or dispute at least 2 of Travers’ main arguments that he makes in his paper to explain or justify these challenges.
  • Make certain to connect Travers’ arguments to the report’s challenges that you select.

Project part1

This project is divided into several parts, each with a deliverable. The first four parts are drafts. These documents should resemble business reports in that they are organized by headings, include source citations (if any), be readable, and be free from typos and grammatical errors. However, they are not final, polished reports. Please see the attached requirements.

Project Part 1: Risk Management Plan Outline and Research

For the first part of the assigned project, you will create a partial draft of the risk management plan. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Research risk management plans.
  2. Create an outline for a basic risk management plan with anticipated section headings (as indicated in this numbered list). This plan will include a qualitative risk assessment, which is addressed later in the project.
  3. Write an introduction to the plan by explaining its purpose and importance.
  4. Define the scope and boundaries of the plan.
  5. Research and summarize compliance laws and regulations that pertain to the organization. Keep track of sources you use for citation purposes.
  6. Identify the key roles and responsibilities of individuals and departments within the organization as they pertain to risk management.
  7. Develop a proposed schedule for the risk management planning process.
  8. Create a draft risk management plan detailing the information above. Format the plan similar to a professional business report and cite any sources you used.

Strategic Alternatives assessment

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze a company’s strengths and weaknesses in order to recommend feasible value-enhancing alternatives.

Consider the publicly traded company “Keurig”. In a paper of 1,000-1,200 words, discuss potential growth opportunities and strategies for “Keurig” company and compare the advantages and disadvantages of each opportunity.

1. Conduct a SWOT analysis for the company and discuss your findings. What advantages does the company have over its competition? What opportunities exist in the industry from which the company can benefit? Who is this company’s competition, and what types of risks might they pose? What weak areas could this company improve to compete with its strongest competitors?

2. Identify strategic alternatives that create value for the company. Which ones are focused on internal growth and what do they offer to the company? What are the drawbacks of these strategies? Which ones are focused on external growth and what do they offer the company? What are the drawbacks of these strategies?

3. How would you use a decision matrix to identify the leading alternative? Explain how you determined the values used to distinguish between each option. What about the matrix, if anything, may be limiting in its use value to an analyst or decision maker?

4. What factors might inhibit the success of the optimal strategic alternative identified? How can the issues you identified be addressed and corrected?

5. Growing an organization is not always about increasing the size of the firm. If expansion is not the main focus, what other elements lend themselves to growth of the firm? How might each be achieved?

Rollout of a change management initiative.

PROBLEM: You have been directed by your corporate or organizational president to research one of the following situations/problems and prepare a formalized research paper. This paper should be addressed to the president, board of directors, and your professor. For this research, you should conduct a review of literature based on the current practices being used in today’s organizations (in terms of your selected research problem/situation).

For your research project, please select one of the following problem or situational areas to research. As you conduct your secondary and/or primary research, you should also develop a well-developed strategy as to how to implement your strategy into this organization. One way to view the selected problem is to think of a current or previous organization, in which you might focus your research efforts towards. For example, you may be facing the same problem in your current organization – so you could write this paper, based on addressing this particular problem with your current organization. If you do not see the relevance of any of these problems with your current or past employers – just write your paper as if you were employed with a Fortune 500 company or an organization currently in the news.
