Begin by selecting an organization and then writing a short paper  about the organization. Your paper should include the following:

  • Description of the organization
  • Description of the industry, location, and processes the organization requires to operate
  • Rationale about the relevance of the organization as a suitable target for the course
  • The meaning and the role of information technology for each of the following terms:
  • Business contingency
  • Business continuity
  • Disaster recovery
  • Crisis management
  • Business impact analysis
  • Data protection and data backup requirements
  • Ideas and concerns for the broader business continuity arena of the organization
  • Potential challenges that might make business continuity planning  difficult

Length: 8 page academic paper, not including title and references.

References: Cite at least 6 recent scholarly resources.

The completed assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration  of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new  thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response  should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to produce a plagiarism report.

M4 Discussion 1: The Amistad Affair & M4 Discussion 2: The Second Great Awakening

 FIRST DISCUSSION

Instructions

Using at least three documents (a mix of primary and secondary sources) from the Library of Congress and National Archives, write a summary of the Amistad Affair. This is your opportunity to be a little creative. Assume a role and perspective of the time and write as though you were trying to convince people of the need to outlaw slavery – what would you tell them about the conditions of the slaves? How would you answer any objections to your cause? Remember to put yourself in the early 19th century.

Make sure you use evidence from the sources and source types noted in your prompt to support your points. You may use sources other than those found in Recommended Resources, but you should write at least 300 words in your response.

SOURCES CAN ONLY BE USED FROM ONE OF THESE TWO LINKS (can use both sites or just one but the three documents can only come from these sources)

SECOND DISCUSSION (separate from the first discussion)

This discussion looks at the growth of the American economy, expansion to the West and conflict in the Early Republic, as well as, reform programs brought about by the Second Great Awakening as a consequence of the growth to the West and the addition of new states.

Instructions

Select one (only one!) of the following topics on the Antebellum Era and the Second Great Awakening and write a response prompt by the initial post date:

  1. Based on at least one primary and one secondary source, explain the causes of the War of 1812? How did the United States come to war with Great Britain instead of France? How did these events foreshadow what was to come (secession and the Civil War)?
  2. Based on at least two primary sources and your readings (course readings and linked documents) on the First Industrial Revolution of this period, how do you think the Revolution changed life in America prior to the Civil War? How did people work or live or play in ways they had not earlier?
  3. Based on at least two primary sources and your readings (course readings and linked documents) this module, what were the consequences of the huge expanse of open land to the West on the development of America? Was there any downside to the expansion of the frontier, do you think? (Hint: Consider things like the fight over expansion of slavery, territorial organization, and statehood.)
  4. Based on at least two primary sources and your readings (course readings and linked documents) on the Great Awakening and reform movements of this period, describe a cause you personally would have taken up had you lived in the early 19th century. Why do you embrace this cause, what do you hope to accomplish?

Make sure you use evidence from the sources and source types noted in your prompt to support your points. You may use sources other than those found in Recommended Resources, but you should write at least 300 words in your response.

Deliverable 4 – Food Resiliency Management Plan

Competency

Analyze the importance of water and soil in the production and distribution of food.

Scenario

You have been hired as an environmental scientist for a local firm. For your first project, you are asked to construct a food resiliency plan for your firm. Given our changing global climate, growing population, overuse and scarcity of resource, such a management plan for the production and distribution of food is crucial. The goal of this proposed plan is to reduce waste and CO 2 emissions contributed by your firm.

Instructions

Construct a detailed management plan for food resiliency. Your plan should consist of three separate paragraphs, (5-7 sentences in length) and should contain the following elements:

  • Your first paragraph should specify where and how your company will source its food given a goal year (e.g., 2030).
    • This paragraph should consider measures to promote a fluid and organized plan for food resiliency that is realistic and achievable by the end goal (e.g., aquaponics/vertical farms sourced from local community centers to give residents access to fresh, organically grown produce).
  • Your second paragraph should specify steps or measures that will be taken to move the firm towards this food resiliency plan.
    • This paragraph should highlight the phasing out of foods sourced from farms that use pesticides/chemicals.
  • Your third paragraph should discuss the potential reduction in food miles and CO2 emissions that would be achieved by the end date.
    • This paragraph should highlight the end goal of reducing food miles and reducing CO2 emissions through sourcing food from local sources.

W 3 Project

Use the same organization that you selected in Week 1.  SEE ATTACHMENT

Scenario:

Management has reviewed your work from two weeks ago about how the employees’ low job motivation may affect the company internally and externally and determined that there is sufficient evidence to support an organizational change. It has asked you to recommend changes that will help to boost employee job motivation.

Recall that a survey showed job motivation among employees was lower than average, with complaints such as:

  • —My job is so boring!
  • —My boss micromanages me but never tells me how I’m doing.
  • —I’ve been in my position for seven to fifteen years, but I am never allowed to provide any input about making the work better.

Write a paper in which you:

  • ****Defend at least two organizational changes and explain how these changes will improve job motivation in the workforce. Support your recommendations by citing the theories covered in the readings or your own research.
  • ******Assess potential conflicts that may arise due to the changes, including why you anticipate these conflicts.
  • ******Justify a change implementation plan for leading the change initiatives and helping the organization overcome any resistance to the changes.
  • *******Justify an appropriate communication plan that announces the changes and continues through the change management process.

Discussion 3 AD

In this week’s discussion you are going to be the CEO of a company.  In anticipation of the upcoming quarterly disclosure of profits, you prepare your Board of Directors for the pressure that cost-push inflation is having on profits. There will be some erosion of profits.  Please make yourself CEO of only one of these hypothetical companies.

Profile of the Companies

All America Grocery Inc – We serve communities in the middle of the income market providing low prices for all basic grocery needs. Our modest income consumers expect goods deals on good quality foods.  The Covid-19 pandemic has put upward pressure on the price of everything we sell. We are also experience rising cost in every aspect of our operation as we have to put extra resources in to protecting both our employees and the public.  We are both fortunate and unfortunate that the price elasticity of demand for food is .20.

Very Big US Auto – Very Big US Auto is one of the oldest and one of the largest manufacturers of autos in the US.  Very Big US Auto’s supply chain is highly dependent components manufactured in China and assembled in the US, (think back to our week 1 problem with the seat manufacturer).  The Chinese economy has rebounded quickly, much of the production capacity is still going to rebuild inventories, so the supply of components still lag behind demand so there is upward pressure on all of our costs.  Additionally manufacturing facilities like ours must take extra precaution to keep workers safe.  Costs are rising on all aspects of production across the industry.  On the demand side, Very Big US Auto knows that demand is relatively elastic with a price elasticity of demand of 1.2. But we also know that pandemic has made some transportation substitutes less acceptable.

Big Time Entertainment – Big Time Entertainment is a nationwide firm providing movies, arcades and other in person entertainment venues such as bowling and roller skating.  Our operations have been heavily impacted during the Covid-19 pandemic.  On reopening we have been faced with a host of regulations that have greatly increased our cost of operations. We also face uncertainty as to the potential for additional shutdowns. Customers are fearful plus the guidance on operating our facilities means we are operating far below our optimal number of patron to cover the higher cost for cleaning and other measure to protect the public and our employees.  Price elasticity of demand is 1.6 and we are also faced with more competitors, online entertainment and gaming, that are not experiencing these cost pressures.

Now explain:

  • Is the demand curve for your product relatively elastic, inelastic or unitary elastic?  Demonstrate for your company’s product, by how much the quantity demanded will change if you pass on a 10% increase in cost. In other words, show your calculation of the percentage change in the quantity demanded if your prices are raised by 10%. You must provide a calculations showing the percentage change in quantity demanded.
  • Given your company’s price elasticity of demand and the industry supply/competitive environment you face, prepare a statement for your board as to the potential impact on profits.   Who will pay the larger share of the cost increases, your firm or your customers?

Final Report to Executive Management

Your final report should be eight to 12 pages in length in either Microsoft Word or PDF. The report should contain the following headings:

  • Executive summary (1 page)
  • Lab results (4–8 pages)

o Build AWS Migration Environment and Configure Web Services

o Test the Migration Environment

o Prepare Cloud Test Environment Monitoring Dashboard

o Cause Site Outages and Investigate Results in Monitoring Dashboard

  • Lessons learned (1–2 pages)
  • Feasibility of cloud environment for BallotOnline      web services deployment (1–2 pages)

English I(MB)#9

I need a minimum of 200 words read carefully and answer fully.

In this unit, you will be revising your Unit V Illustration Essay, but you will also be looking forward to the Unit VII submission of your Expository Essay. Choosing a topic can be a great challenge to students at times because they want to choose a topic that is reasonable and one that is interesting to them. However, some students struggle with choosing a topic because there are so many possibilities. In the lessons for this unit, we discussed some different ways that you can come up with a short list of possible topics, including talking to those around you, observing important issues, reflecting on issues that are important to you, and thinking about topics in relation to disciplinary categories.

After considering some of these generative methods, what topics have you come up with? Describe them, along with giving a short explanation of how you came to your topics. You might choose just one topic and share your process. If you do not have a topic(s) in mind, then describe some general areas of interest or where you think you might want to find a topic. Sometimes just describing these vague thoughts can be very productive for you and others!

Response 5  Re: Topic 2 DQ 2

All human life is essentially valued to me. I take a theist view on this question and believe that God created the existence of all things but has allowed for some form of evolution that has resulted in how the world and people are today (White, 2020). I feel that humans possess features that need to be valued and cherished such as emotions, reason, compassion, and conciseness. With traits such as these, human beings are able to live and thrive amongst themselves. They provide things for not only society, but for one another. Humans do not only have value when they present scientific advances or talent in my opinion and are more than just what they can give. People are able to bring joy and love to the world and show kindness that gives a meaning to life. The worth of a human being can not be measured because each and every individual has unique characteristics with worth apart from external benefits or contributions which can be considered an intrinsic view (White, 2020).

I have mixed views on controversial issues such as abortion, designer babies, and stem cell research. On abortion, I can see a point from both sides and would like to take a look at the circumstances. If a woman is raped, I don’t feel like she should be shamed if she doesn’t want to continue the pregnancy. I know my view on this can be met with opposition, but this is how I personally feel. My place is not to judge others, as I would leave that to God and God alone. If there were life-threatening circumstances due to pregnancy, then my stance would be the same, that abortion should be a viable option. Though I am more “pro choice” sided, I would not consider using abortion as a proper form of birth control. That to me would be unethical, wrong, and against my beliefs.

Designer babies is a newer concept to me. I’m not sure if we should be able to determine the look and physical appearance, but I do believe if it could change a negative thing such as a defective gene which could improve quality of life, then I would agree with it. It is contradicting to say that because why can we choose one and not the other as well, but that is my view on the topic. With stem-cell research, I would support it if it is to improve quality of life. Many could say that these topics allow humans to “play God”, so the argument over them is valid for debate. My ultimate question would be “Did God allow us to discover these new technologies and advances in science, or does it go against his inherent wishes?”
