Students will be asked to plan the 2023* edition of the European Universities Football Championship, involving 32 teams from 16 different countries (16 teams men’s teams and 16 women’s teams) and around 700 participants (including players, coaches, referees and members of the team delegations). A university in Barcelona has been appointed as the host of this edition, but their facilities cannot host such a big competition, so the competition needs to find a venue within the Barcelona province. (*As a matter of fact, the 2023 edition has already been awarded to Tirana, Albania, but for the sake of a better knowledge of the hosting region by the students, we will use Barcelona as the host of the competition).

As the heads of the organizing committee, students will be required to draw a plan including all the areas dealt with in class, ranging from the definition and description of the stakeholders, to the budgeting and rundown of the whole event. The topics the students will be asked to address are (but not limited to): 

• Stakeholders involved and the objectives each of them may have in the event.
• Selection of the venue precise location, and justification of that choice. 
• Definition of the different areas/departments of the organizing committee and the tasks assigned to each of them.
• Facilities outline.
• Travel & accommodation considerations.
• Budget.
• Sustainability plan to be implemented.
• Risk assessment plan. 
• Event marketing: Promotion plan & sponsorship concept.
• Ticketing concept.
• General runsheet of the whole event and sample rundown of a game. 
• Post event evaluation.

The document needs to include both an introduction, a core with each of the different items/topics dealt with, and a conclusion to summarize the decisions made. 

The task should be submitted as a document (PDF), including the necessary graphic elements to support the decisions made.

The purpose of this assignment is to gain real-world insight into how risk management programs operate within health care organizations.

Select a local health care organization where you can conduct an interview with an employee who is involved in risk management processes. This organization can be your current employer or a different health care facility in your community. Acute care, urgent care, large multi‐provider private medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and community/public health clinical facilities are all ideal options to complete the requirements of this assignment. Select an individual who can provide sufficient information regarding how their organization manages risk within its facility to answer the questions below.

In your interview, address the following:

1. Risk management strategies used in the organization’s risk control program, along with specific examples.
2. How the facility’s educational risk management program addresses key professional, legal, and ethical issues, such as prevention of negligence, malpractice litigation, and vicarious liability.
3. Policies the facility has implemented that address how to manage emergency triage in high‐risk areas of health care service delivery (e.g., narcotics inventories, declared pregnancy policies, blood-borne disease sector, etc.).
4. Challenges the organization faces in managing and controlling high-risk health care (e.g., infectious diseases, nuclear medicine, abortion, class 4 narcotics/opioids, etc.).
5. Strategies the facility utilizes to monitor, evaluate, and maintain compliance within its risk management program.

After conducting the interview, compose a 750‐1,000 word summary analysis of the interview that includes the questions above, in conjunction with the interviewee’s responses. In addition, include the following elements in your response:

1. An assessment of the organization’s risk management program, including how it attends to high-risk health care and legal concerns.
2. Action steps you would take to improve one area of the organization’s risk management program, along with your rationale for doing so.

Cite appropriate references as needed to support your statements and rationale.

As the Baby Boomer generation ages, our nation is faced with issues surrounding long-term-care solutions. Many are unaware of how financing happens for this and are surprised at not only the cost, but the lack of coverage that exists. Our culture has shifted such that keeping our elderly at home is no longer a typical practice. Add to this the advancement of medical technology and care, many are living into advanced years but are not capable of living on their own. This is a health policy issue that is not yet solved and will continue to be a challenge until it is adequately addressed.
