Social Work Research Evaluation

Social workers can apply knowledge and skills learned from conducting one type of evaluation to others. Moreover, evaluations themselves can inform and com`plement each other throughout the life of a program. This week, you apply all that you have learned about program evaluation throughout this course to aid you in program evaluation.

To prepare for this Assignment, review “Basic Guide to Program Evaluation (Including Outcomes Evaluation)” from this week’s resources, Plummer, S.-B., Makris, S., & Brocksen S. (Eds.). (2014b). Social work case studies: Concentration year. Retrieved from http://www.vitalsource.com , especially the sections titled “Outcomes-Based Evaluation” and “Contents of an Evaluation Plan.” Then, select a program that you would like to evaluate. You should build on work that you have done in previous assignments, but be sure to self-cite any written work that you have already submitted. Complete as many areas of the “Contents of an Evaluation Plan” as possible, leaving out items that assume you have already collected and analyzed the data.

Abstract

  • The purpose of the evaluation, including specific questions to be answered
  • The outcomes to be evaluated
  • The indicators or instruments to be used to measure those outcomes, including the strengths and limitations of those measures to be used to evaluate the outcomes
  • A rationale for selecting among the six group research designs
  • The methods for collecting, organizing and analyzing data
  • Conclusion

Project management process

Week5

Assigned Readings:Chapter 9. Project SchedulingChapter 10. Resource ManagementChapter 11. Project BudgetInitial Postings: Read and reflect on the assigned readings for the week. Then post what you thought was the most important concept(s), method(s), term(s), and/or any other thing that you felt was worthy of your understanding in each assigned textbook chapter.Your initial post should be based upon the assigned reading for the week, so the textbook should be a source listed in your reference section and cited within the body of the text. Other sources are not required but feel free to use them if they aid in your discussion. Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:

  1. Is it possible for a project team to achieve high efficiency without scheduling tasks and activities? Discuss.
  2. Why is the impact of scheduling and resource allocation generally more significant in multiproject organizations? How do large fluctuations in demand affect the situation?
  3. Assume that you are in charge of developing your state’s department of transportation budget. Write specific instructions for project managers in your department to facilitate a bottom-up budgeting process.

Week-6

Assigned Readings:Chapter 12. Project ControlChapter 13. Research and Development ProjectsInitial Postings: Read and reflect on the assigned readings for the week.

  1. Pick a major U.S. industry, such as automobiles or computers, and discuss the lapses in technology and innovation on the domestic front that permitted foreign competitors to get a foothold and, in some cases, a dominant share of the market. Who or what do you think was to blame for this situation?
  2. In the mid-1980s, General Motors undertook a $5 billion program to introduce robotics and computer-integrated manufacturing techniques into many of its assembly plants. The results were disappointing, to say the least. Enormous technical problems dogged the program from the beginning, and the ultimate gains in productivity were decidedly modest. What do you think went wrong? Why? From the long-term perspective, was the automation program a good idea?

Week-7

Chapter 14. Computer Support for Project ManagementChapter 15. Project TerminationInitial Postings: Read and reflect on the assigned readings for the week.

  1. Several years ago, the U.S. Congress canceled funding for the development of a battery-powered electric vehicle. Do you think that was a good decision? Can you imagine what the pros and cons were?
  2. Assume that you are working for a computer manufacturer as a software engineer and that you are told abruptly that your project will be canceled within 4 weeks. List the questions that you would have for management. After absorbing the shock, what would you do?

Powerpoint Assignment for HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION *GRAD LEVEL* (DUE BY MIDNIGHT!)

ASSIGNMENT: Your specific assignment for this module is to select a health care organization for your project and have it approved by your professor. You may consider any health care organization as long as you have enough access to the organization and/or level of understanding of that organization necessary to complete the assignment.

Note: You will not be asked to reveal any proprietary or confidential information in your reports. In addition, there are several health care organizations that do a fantastic job of publicly disclosing their health information infrastructure in an online format such as: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/the_johns_hopkins_hospital/ . If you don’t have direct access to a health care organization, you can use one of the health care organizations that provides its health information infrastructure online.

Accordingly, your selected health care organization can be:

  • The organization for which you work.
  • A health care organization for which a friend or relative works. You must be able to access information concerning this organization that is relevant to your SLP assignments.
  • A local health care organization that is willing to share insight about how it manages health information.
  • Any health care organization that makes public its approach to health information management, operations, and organizational structure.

Provide a 7- to 10-slide (not including title slide and reference slides) PowerPoint presentation on the health care organization you have selected. Provide a brief overview of the health care organization. Next, discuss the types of health care information systems the organization uses (i.e., EHR, clinical decision support, patient portals, etc.). Finally, close with describing how these systems impact patient outcomes, quality and/or safety.

Candie Cardigan as a representative for CARDWARE has decided to auction her strapless giraffe print dress made of silk, satin with velvet markings. This particular dress was used in a movie filmed in S. Africa. The dress had been show cased among other famous dresses in the Silkadonia Actors Guild Museum. Cassie Cardigan was chosen to act as the auctioneer for World Wide Auction House. The bidding for the dress began at $5,000. Pearl has been looking forward to participating in the auction for this dress for over three months. Pearl raised her auction paddle and bid the initial $5,000. Jade also wanted the giraffe print dress and upped the ante to $5,500. The two battled the bidding to where it appeared that Pearl got the dress for $8,500.00, as Cassie smiled and nodded at Pearl.

Candie and Jade had been friends for years, as they had modeled together growing up as children. Candie quietly told Cassie to sell the dress to Jade. When Pearl presented $8,500 to Cassie, Cassie refused to take her money claiming that the dress was to go to Jade. Cassie further explained that Jade had allegedly had raised her paddle after Pearl’s final bid and showed five fingers meaning that she was bidding $500.00 more over the $8,500.00 bid made by Pearl. In reality, no such action by Jade had taken place.

Pearl now wants to sue for breach of contract. She has come to your office asking for your help. She wants you to request that Candie turn the dress over to her for the $8,500 that she bid. Your supervising attorney Les Agne indicates that you should investigate a cause of action for breach of contract, as well as a cause of action based on specific performance. Be aware of whom the true Plaintiff may be in this potential case and who causes of action may be brought against. Also, Les has scribbled the following notes to help you with organizing your thoughts regarding Specific Performance.

Dear Paralegal:

After you establish a contract exists as a result of the auctioning of the giraffe print dress, you may want to consider the following with regard to specific performance:

  • You must have a contract in place
  • The remedy at law must not be adequate (hence damages alone will not provide relief to the party who is seeking specific performance.
  • The remedy must be enforceable
  • If one party can bring the action for specific performance, so can the other if the positions were reversed.
  • If there were any conditions to the contract, all were.

Be sure to discuss defenses with regard to the contract. In other words, what will Candie or the Auction House say in response to there being a contract?

Assignment Instructions:

Please write me a memorandum in the following format:

Date:

To: Les Agne, Attorney at law

From: [Your Name]

Re: Potential Causes of Action for Breach of Contract and Specific Performance

Organize your memorandum with an introduction, body, and conclusion.

Deterrence CJ

Assignment 2: Deterrence

The concept of deterrence plays an important role in our system. Laws are in place to punish offenders but also to hopefully dissuade potential offenders from actually committing the crime.

Your state has decided to pass a law making it illegal to drive while using a cell phone or texting. The purpose of the new law is not really to punish people since this is not a “bad” crime, like hurting someone or stealing. Rather, the goal is to deter people from driving in a dangerous manner. Prepare a memo to the committee that is looking into this project—the committee needs to understand the concept of deterrence.

Your memo should be of 3 to 4 pages and include:

  • A justification for adopting this law, including an explanation of the concept of deterrence
  • A explanation of whether deterrence is a Classical concept or a Positive one
  • A suggestion for a deterrent punishment, with an explanation as to why you believe that this punishment will have the desired deterrent effect
  • An explanation of whether there are any characteristics of potential offenders that influence whether deterrence will work—in other words, whether certain deterrence efforts will work on some offenders and not others
  • An explanation of what the state will have to do in order to achieve deterrence

AMH- D3

Industrialization brought great wealth to America, but the price was quite high. The growing extremes of poverty and wealth that were being exhibited at the end of the 19th century, caused some to seek ways to make possible a just and humane society, while others sought justification for the emerging social order. The promise of success was made, promoting the idea that America was the land of opportunity and that hard work led to success. Social Darwinism was used to provide a scientific explanation for why some acquired great wealth while others barely survived. Rags-to-riches stories presented a picture of the opportunities that were available to all, and the success of the self-made man.

After you have completed your readings post your response to ONE of the topics in the following question:

  1. How would you respond to someone who presents you with the arguments proposed by Social Darwinists, OR the stories written by Horatio Alger, OR Carnegie’s Gospel of Wealth (choose ONLY ONE of these), to explain the success or failures of individuals in the society? What evidence would you use to support your position? For this discussion, you must first identify and present their arguments, and then your counterargument. As you collect your information for this discussion you should keep in mind the opportunities that were available to many, but also the climate of racism that permeated parts of the American society and the legalized discrimination that existed.

help with an outline

I created one but I failed I listed an example she gave me something like it suppose to look like

needs a brief explanation of the controversy

The purpose of your Signature Assignment is to describe a controversy or debate in forensic psychology, including its legal and psychological significance. An example of a controversy in forensic psychology would be, “Should a child be able to testify as an eyewitness?” or “Should incompetent defendants be committed indefinitely?”

  1. At least two references that support each side of the controversy (although more are required for the final paper)
  2. Your stance on the controversy, including support for your views
  3. An outline of the structure of your paper

Length: 1-2 pages, plus reference page

no plagiarism please and APA format

The controversy for the final paper must be one that actually exists in the literature in forensic psychology. While the issue you pose is interesting, this is not a current controversy that is being discussed in the academic literature in the are of forensic psychology. Additionally, what you have presented is not an annotated outline as is required by the assignment.

I’m including some information on how to create an annotated outline. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about the assignment or to ask if a topic you’re considering is suitable for the assignment.

Spotlight on Skills: Writing an Annotated Outline
An outline is the scaffold upon which you build your paper. You probably already use a mental outline when you plan a paper, perhaps without even being aware of it. Writing the outline can provide you with a visualization of your plan. An outline provides both focus and direction for the paper, shows where relevant points and arguments need to be made, and identifies areas where more supportive evidence is needed.

What is an annotated outline? As you are writing a research paper, your paper is built around the research findings that you located in your search. When you prepare an annotated outline, you will note the research that supports each section of the paper. This will help you see any areas that need further research to support them.

The following example may help support the transition of your paper from a collection of research notes to a fully developed paper. Suppose the research topic you chose was the relation of childhood bullying to self-esteem. The title of your paper is: Self-esteem in Childhood Bullying.

When researching the paper, you found conflicting research results. Some research showed that children with low self-esteem tended to bully others, while other research showed that children with extremely high self-esteem were bullies. Looking closer, you began to see that this research could be divided into studies investigating different variables, such as gender, age, and ethnic background. Now, you want to turn this into a research report.

example of what it looks like

An annotated outline might look like this (all citations are fictional): Topic: The relation of childhood bullying to self-esteem: Too much or too little?
A. Overview of childhood bullying
1. Definitions of bullying (Simpson, 2010; O’Connor, 2008)
2. Types of bullying (Yang, 2009; Sinisi, 2011)
B. Self-esteem in childhood
1. Definitions of self-esteem (Whitefield, 2009)
2. Impact of self-esteem on behavior in childhood (Liebermann, 2010)
C. Research on the relation of self-esteem to bullying in childhood
1. Gender, self-esteem, and childhood bullying
a. Self-esteem and same-gender bullying
i. Self-esteem in boys bullying boys (Pryzborski, 2012)
ii. Self-esteem in girls bullying girls
b. Self-esteem in opposite-gender or non-gender-specific bullying in childhood (no research found)
2. Age, self-esteem in childhood bullying
a. Self-esteem and bullying from 6-9 (Brennan, 2011)
b. Self-esteem and bullying from 9-12 (Mendez, 2010; Lee, 2011)
3. Family structure, self-esteem, and childhood bullying
a. Self-esteem and bullying in children in single-parent families (Shams, 2012)
b. Self-esteem and bulling in children in dual-parent families (Mugaddam, 2011)
4. Ethnicity, self-esteem, and childhood bullying
a. Inter-ethnic bullying and self-esteem (Jacinto, 2009; Akbarzadeh, 2010)
b. Intra-ethnic bullying and self-esteem (Lawrence, 2011)
D. Conclusions
E. Summary and suggestions for future studies
F. References

Preparing an annotated outline in this way will give you a way to organize and clarify your plans. Additionally, it gives your professor a chance to provide feedback on the proposed structure of the paper before you begin to write. You can also see which subtopics you need to research further before proceeding with the final draft

unit 3 in class activity

Although stocks and bonds may both be viewed as investment opportunities, there are major differences between the two. Stock represents capital, the financial investment or equity, in a corporation. In a publicly traded corporation, individuals and groups buy and own shares of stock in the company. Shares of stock are traded (bought and sold) on one of the stock exchanges. For example, you might buy shares of stock in Coca-Cola, a publicly traded company. Publicly traded companies are very different from privately owned companies. Private corporations do not sell stock on a public exchange. For example, ECPI is a privately owned company. Its stock is not available to outside investors, nor is it traded on an exchange.

Bonds are debt issued by a government or corporation. Individuals and groups buy and hold these bonds as an investment. The government or corporation that issues these bonds guarantees payment of the original investment plus interest earned at a specific future date. For example, if New York City wants to build a new tunnel and bridge, the city might issue a bond to finance this project.

Both stocks and bonds are used to raise money. Issuing bonds allows the corporation to maintain control since ownership is not changed. Issuing stock gives up control to the stockholders (Wild, Shaw, & Chiappetta, 2014).

Scenario

Imagine you work for The XYZ Inc., a business that is a publicly owned corporation. Plans have been designed for a major business expansion that would take place over the next several years. You know your company will need to raise money to finance this project.

Instructions

Create a two- (2-) page report, not including the reference and cover page, in which you reference the following points about The XYZ Inc. and the project to raise money.

  • Discuss the project you have planned.
  • Are there any advantages to issuing bonds over stocks? Identify one advantage and explain why it is an advantage.
  • Are there any advantages to selling stocks instead of issuing bonds? Identify one advantage and explain why it is an advantage.
  • If you owned this corporation, would you want to sell your stock company or issue a bond? Explain your decision.
  • Now, imagine you sell the stock. Would you issue common stock or preferred stock? Why?
  • As an investor who wishes to make as much profit as possible in the long term, would you want to buy stocks or bonds? Explain your answer.

Be sure to support your responses with credible sources. Use APA style to cite your sources and format your paper. You are not required to write an abstract.

Create your assignment in a Microsoft Word document. Name and save your file using the following file naming convention: YourFirst_LastName_U3_inclass_activity.
