Research paper on semiconductor

MGT Semiconductor Co. is a medium-sized semiconductor fabrication plant in Mountain View, California. The company has been in business for over 20 years, mainly producing computer chips for auto industry that are sold exclusively through its distribution network across the United States. Through the years, it has been gradually expanding its production capacity and consumer base. However, over the past 9 months, the company has been faced with an unprecedented and unanticipated increase in demand, which has cleared out all its storage facilities and exceeded its manufacturing capabilities. At this time, the demand continues to be extremely high.

The company has an existing storage facility specifically designed for long-term storage of unused chips (controlled climate, humidity, dust, etc.), which can be converted to a new production line. The new production line would increase the existing manufacturing capabilities by 50%. However, this would require a substantial investment in remodeling of the facility and purchasing of expensive equipment from a producer in Tokyo, Japan. To proceed with this option, it would be also necessary for MGT Semiconductor Co. to obtain a loan from a bank and hire additional staff. It is estimated that it will take at least 15 months for the new production facility to start producing.

MGT Semiconductor Co. leadership is faced with a dilemma. If they don’t expand the current capacity, they risk losing the market share to competitors that are more flexible in adapting to higher demand. At the same time, the expansion is very costly and the long-term demand is uncertain.

You are hired by MGT Semiconductor Co. as a consultant to help make the right business decision and to come up with an action plan.

Part A Question:

How would you recommend for MGT Semiconductor Co. to proceed? Should it stay with the same production capacity or increase it as described above? Based on the knowledge acquired in the course, please provide a detailed explanation of the rationale for your recommendation. Please describe potential challenges MGT Semiconductor Co. could be facing as a result of your recommendation. State the challenges and explain how you would recommend MGT Semiconductor Co. to address each of those challenges.

Part B Question:

As an alternative to internal expansion, MGT Semiconductor Co. was just presented with an option to acquire a small-sized semiconductor company overseas. While this acquisition will allow MGT Semiconductor Co. to increase its existing manufacturing capabilities by 50% in just

4 months, it will be drastically more expensive than converting an existing storage facility to a new production line.

Should MGT Semiconductor Co. consider this acquisition project? Please base your recommendation on the analysis of the triple constraint and provide a detailed explanation of the rationale for your recommendation.

Requrirements:

  1. Your report should be no more than four pages (font size 12) in length. Please      do not

exceed the length restriction for this assignment.

  1. Please cite your references.

Final Writing Project

The Final Writing Exercise is in the format of a job interview. You have just graduated from Brooklyn College and now you are being interviewed for your dream job. Congratulations! Though, first you have to pass the interview process and the interviewer has learned that you took a class in Business Ethics. The interviewer is interested in what you learned and how a class in business ethics has affected you. Use your experience from the class to answer the following four questions. A good interview will include enough detail and personal narrative about yourself to make your answers genuine, authentic, and memorable. Here is what the interviewer asks:
(1) What did you learn in business ethics that you think will make you a better employee? Explain.
(2) In studying business ethics, what did you find most surprising and why?
(3) Each year we ask one employee to choose a virtue and write about it for the company. What virtue would you choose? Explain the virtue and why you would choose that one.
(4) What would you say is your ethics? What principles do you hold? Explain why.
You should try to write 2-3 pages. This is NOT a group assignment. Work in seclusion and by yourself. Your grade will be based on your grasp of the class concepts and the depth of your answer.

Help me?

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of the course textbook.

This discussion will help you think about the varied research approaches and how they can be applied based on certain world views or the nature of the groups you wish to research. By choosing the best approach from the start, researchers are much more likely to get the best results to answer research questions. In your initial post, address the following:

  • Select a research topic that interests you and also is an important social problem. Then, use the four combinations of worldviews, designs, and research methods in Figure 1.1 of Chapter 1 of the course text to discuss a project involving your selected research topic that brings together worldview, designs, and methods. Identify whether this would involve quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research.
  • Using the research project you have described above, state the essence of this study in one sentence and then write your research title. By doing this, you focus on the key elements of the study.
  • Explain the key elements of your proposed study: What is the social problem? Which identity group in society is most affected by this social problem? Is there a particular place or other unique aspect which is important to note about your study?
  • Next, list three keywords related to your topic and use these keywords to do a database search for journal articles on the topic in the University of Arizona Global Campus Library. Indicate the three keywords in your post and list an example of a journal article found for each key word. (Note: Each journal article found must be listed in APA format.) Indicate if you needed to adjust your keywords in order to locate appropriate journal articles for your study, and explain that process.

Final Project python programming

1. (100 points) Write a python program that fetches movie information for the top 500 most popular movies from Metacritics. On this websites, there is an option to show the top movies. On Metacritics, it is called “Movies of All Time”You will first write python script that collect the movie information for the top 500 movies from each website and store them in a comma separated file (called [your name]_movies.csv). In addition to the csv file, the data should also be stored in a SQLite database called MovieInfoDatabase in the directory that your Jupyter Notebook code will be executed from. The MovieInfoDatabase should have a table called MovieInfoTable. Next, from the movie information you have collected, extract 2 pieces of information: The director, and the cast (actors/actresses). Build a dictionary of the movies that contain these information. Arrange them in any way you prefer but make sure we can access the information we need at any time. Example: Which movie do you want to check?input: Saving Private RyanWhat information about this movie do you want to check? (Choose director or cast)input: CastOutput:The cats of the movie Saving Private Ryan includes Matt Damon as Pvt. James Francis Ryan, Tom Hanks as Captain Miller, Adam Goldberg as Pvt. Stanley Mellish, Barry Pepper as Pvt. Daniel Jackson, Dennis Farina as Lt. Col. Anderson, Dylan Bruno as Toynbe, Edward Burns as Pvt. Richard Reiben, Giovanni Ribisi as T-5 Medic Irwin Wade, Jeremy Davies as Cpl. Timothy P. Upham, Joerg Stadler as Steamboat Willie, Max Martini as Cpl. Henderson, Paul Giamatti as Sgt. Hill, Ted Danson as Captain Hamill, Tom Sizemore as Sgt. Mike Horvath, Vin Diesel as Pvt. Adrian Caparzo

Then there are 3 tasks you need to complete:1. Analyze how many times has each actor/actress appeared in these top 500 movies, analyze how many times has each director appeared in these top 500 movies, what can that tell you about their career?2. Create a dictionary of actors/actresses that the directors have worked together with in each movie, then calculate their cosine similarity, which directors work with similar groups of actors/actresses? Use director name as the dictionary name, actor/actress name as the key, and the times they have worked together in a movie as the value. For example: Michael Bay = {‘ Bruce Willis’: 50, ‘Ben Affleck’:20, ‘Liam Neeson’:10}, Steven Spielberg = {‘Liam Neeson’: 30, ‘Tom Hanks’:20, ‘Denzel Washington’:15}Your program should show the similarity score between the directors. (An example is given below).3. Pick 5 of your favorite actors/actresses from this list of top 500 movies. Then create a dictionary of all the actors/actresses that they have collaborated with in a movie. Following similar method as above in task 2, create the dictionaries, and compare these 5 actors, who is the most popular supporting actor/actress among them all?Combine your finding with those in task 1 and 2, write a short report to observe how do directors and actors/actresses grow their career (Times new roman, 12 font size, no more than 1 page).

Example 2:Michael Bay = Transformer: [Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liam Neeson], Batman:[ Ben Affleck,  Liam Neeson]Steven Spielberg = Schindler’s List:[ Liam Neeson, Tom Hanks], American Gangster:[ Denzel Washington]Michael Bay = {‘Bruce Willis’: 1, ‘Ben Affleck’:2, ‘Liam Neeson’:2}Steven Spielberg = {‘Liam Neeson’: 1, ‘Tome Hanks’:1, ‘Denzel Washington’:1}Common vector = (Bruce Willis. Ben Affleck, Liam Neeson, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington)Michael Bay vector = (1,2,2,0,0)Steven Spielberg vector = (0,0,1,1,1)Then calculate the cosine similarity.Your submission will include 4 files.1) The ipynb file with your python code .2) Your .csv file that stores the reviews.3) Your .db file that stores the reviews.4) Your short report in word document.

Your Financial Statements

Textbook: https://openstax.org/books/introduction-business/pages/14-introduction

One of the best ways to learn about financial statements is to prepare them. Put together your personal balance sheet and income statement, using Table 14.1 (see p. 554 in course textbook) and Table 14.2 (see p. 557 in course textbook) as samples. You will have to adjust the account categories to fit your needs. Here are some suggestions:

◦ Current assets—cash on hand, balances in savings and checking accounts

◦ Investments—stocks and bonds, retirement funds

◦ Fixed assets—real estate, personal property (cars, furniture, jewelry, etc.)

◦ Current liabilities—charge-card balances, loan payments due in one year

◦ Long-term liabilities—auto loan balance, mortgage on real estate, other loan balances that will not come due until after one year

◦ Income—employment income, investment income (interest, dividends)

◦ Expenses—housing, utilities, food, transportation, medical, clothing, insurance, loan payments, taxes, personal care, recreation and entertainment, and miscellaneous expenses

After you complete your personal financial statements, use them to see how well you are managing your finances. Consider the following questions:

  1. Should you be concerned about your debt ratio?
  2. Would a potential creditor conclude that it is safe or risky to lend you money?
  3. If you were a company, would people want to invest in you? Why or why not?
  4. What could you do to improve your financial condition?

This assignment submission must have an APA cover page.  Submitted assignment must include a balance sheet and an income statement.  Options for submission are:

·

  • Excel Spreadsheets (submitted as separate files) and a separate MS Word file with answers to questions (to include APA cover page), or
  • one submitted MS Word document that has inserted (cut and paste) Excel tables or created MS Word tables to represent balance sheet and income statement.

History of California

There are 10 short-answer questions worth 10 points each.  Type out the questions, as well as the answers.  Your answers must be full of facts, data, supporting research to gain maximum points.  Each answer will have at least ten sentences.  Three points will be deducted for each missing sentence.  This test cannot be made up for any reason.  All ten must be done or a grade of 0 will result, unless otherwise noted. Post to Canvas.

The questions are as follows:

1. For thousands of years Native Californians, before the Spanish arrived, lived as close to an earthly paradise as possible. Explain. (Ch. 2)

2. Compare and contrast the lives of the mission Indians with those of the wealthy Californios.  How did secularization of the missions hurt the Natives, but helped the Californios? (Ch. 8)

3. Explain what outsiders, such as American sailors and businessmen, might have seen and not seen in Mexican California.  Now analyze Richard Henry Dana’s quote, “In the hands of an enterprising people, what a land this might be.”(Ch. 8-9)

4. Explain the difference between the discovery of gold and of the Gold Rush. Now analyze how the Gold Rush was an economic multiplier for California. (Ch. 11)

5. What is squatting and how did it contribute to the controversy in Mussel Slough? Who was at fault for the shootout and why? (Ch. 13)

6.Explain the importance of the rise of the automobile, and of the Hollywood movie industry, in the 1920s, to California’s image as the land of beauty and leisure. (Chapter 20)

7.Analyze, in depth with lots of supporting facts, what the Dust Bowl was, and how it impacted the people involved.  Give examples of why Californians reacted to the arrival of the “Okies” so negatively. (Chapter 21)

8.How did World War II impact the California economy and society? (Ch. 23)

9.Analyze California’s role in the hippie movement, starting with the Beatniks of the 1950s.  Why did “hippiedom” come to an end?  (Ch. 26)

10.What were the goals of California’s conservatives in the 1960s and 1970s, and why did California voters elect them into office?  Analyze how California went from the epicenter of left-wing protest to a conservative bastion.  (Ch. 27)
