Sodium Bicarbonate: Outline

Objective: Organize your thoughts and the main points of your research for your final presentation

Assignment Instructions: To help you complete Assignment 3: The Presentation, you will first submit an outline to organize your thoughts and main points. Your outline should be formatted a specific way and must contain the following elements as described below.

To prepare for this assignment, I recommend that you do the following:

Read these directions carefully.

Review the sample outline provided to you below.

Message me with any questions!

Be sure to add your name and course number to your outline.

The outline format: Your outline must be formatted as described and exemplified in the example attached. Please note that this format will be assessed in your grade:

Use an alphanumeric sequence

Sections should be indented and aligned

Follow the suggested order of the required elements

Use brief but detailed and descriptive phrases.

The required elements: Depending on the type of molecule/substance you have chosen you will address different sets of questions. Please see the category that responds to your selection. Your outline should contain the following elements in this order, and please note that some of these should be your personal observations. Also remember that your presentation (Assignment #3) should only be 10-15 slides, so you need to be concise and clear with your information.

Introduction

Molecule/substance Introduction

The common and IUPAC name of your molecule/substance. Please see this link to help with scientific names if needed: IUPAC Nomenclature Of Organic Chemistry.

Where you can observe your molecule/substance in society and/or in nature.

A brief discussion on why you chose your molecule/substance.

If possible, a picture and/or video of you safely observing your molecule/substance in the field. If you cannot safely observe it, please include a couple of images from the internet.

Body

Description

You must include a physical description. You can use your personal observations from photographs. If you cannot safely observe your molecule/substance, you must research.

Physical Characteristics (appearance, texture, color, odor, melting point, boiling point, density, solubility, polarity, etc.)

Chemical description: You will need to research the chemical properties of your compound/molecule)

Chemical Characteristics (stability in air or other environment, flammability, volatility, etc)

Discovery

a. Describe the initial discovery of your molecule. Who discovered the molecule, when, how, etc? Some compounds are part of a larger substance/plant. If this is the case, describe the isolation of your specific compound. The isolation refers to the initial time your molecule/substance was discovered from its raw materials, or isolated from its natural resources. Please see here for some hints on chemical isolation.

Usage and Benefit or Harm to Society

Where has your molecule/substance been used. Is it used regularly or is has it only been used on occasion? If your compound is one we ingest when eating, include information on foods it’s commonly found in.

Write about the Benefit or Harm to Society Caused by your molecule/substance. Many compounds can be used as bioweapons or have both positive and negative impacts. Other compounds have had benefits as medicines or have caused harm as illicit narcotics. All of these are good ideas to start out thinking about, so I’d like you to discuss these impacts on society, the future, and in any way you can think they may be beneficial or harmful.

Conclusion

This section should contain four to six points that sum up the main points from the body of the outline.

Start your conclusive section with one sentence summarizing some basic information about your chosen molecule/substance (common and IUPAC name and physical characteristics).

Continue with a brief summary (1-2 sentences) about the isolation and synthesis of the molecule/substance.

Include a brief summary (1-2 sentences) about the structure and function of your chosen molecule/substance.

Wrap up the conclusive section with a closing note that provides brief information about a unique fact and/or behavior of your chosen.

The Reference Section

This is not just the reference page; rather, referencing should occur throughout the outline as it will in your presentation. Therefore, your outline should include both a separate reference page containing a minimum of five sources listed in proper APA reference list format AND internal citations throughout the outline where appropriate. Please be sure to see the resources below for assistance regarding in-text citations and reference list formatting, and/or ask me if you have any additional questions.

Please make note of the following tips and tricks:

I understand that this is a rough draft and, as your research and writing continue over the next few weeks, details may be added or changed. Although you do not have to resubmit it to me, I recommend that you update this outline to help you best complete Assignments 3.

Write your outline so that it has detailed bullets that you can easily then flesh out into sentences for the narration of your presentation (Assignment 3).

After your outline is complete, I recommend that you next draft your introductory and conclusion sections for your outline. This will ensure that all the main points of the outline are incorporated in these two framing sections of your final presentation.

Please note that less than 10% of your outline or presentation (Assignment 3) should contain direct quotes.

All internal citation references should be listed on the reference page, and vice versa.

· For each family structure, a description of two traumatic or stressful situations that may occur (there may be some overlap).

· For each traumatic or stressful situation described above, provide 1-2 instructional strategies to assist these children in their growth and development.

· At least 2-3 strategies to encourage family involvement.

· Explanation of at least three local, state, or national resources available to support family structures, stress, trauma, and special family circumstances that affect learner development.

Support your presentation with 3-5 scholarly resources.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Accounting Lego Project (With Example Project Attached) Concept Idea: A Box OR Whatever [PowerPoint with Charts/Graphs/FlowChart, Excel Calculations, Written Deliverable]

Lego Project Instructions

Fall 2020

Due Date: 11/16/20

The Lego Project will be due Nov 16th at 11:59PM

The purpose of this project is for you to reinforce the fundamentals of managerial accounting presented in ACCT 2102. You can do this in groups of two. On the coversheet on your written deliverable please include both names if you worked in a group. In addition, your cover sheet should contain the name of your creation and a picture of your creation. Please include both names on the PowerPoint as well.

You will be creating a Lego kit either by drawing or a Lego building website. The number of Legos per creation will differ for each group depending on the creation. You must use a minimum of 100 pieces to create your Lego creation. This project should not cost you any money you should be able to download the software off of Lego.com or draw your creation. If you find another website similar, you are free to be creative. If you have Legos, you may also build an actual structure.

Assume you are creating a Lego kit to resell. Also, assume that you are presenting this project to the Executive Vice President of Product and Marketing Development.

Grading: 20% actual creation 40% two-page written deliverable 40% presentation

Actual Creation  20 points

Written Deliverable  40 points

Presentation (PowerPoint and Presentation)  40 Points

Total Points 100 Points

Your deliverable and presentation will be judged on both creativity and the informational content of the report. DO NOT SUBMIT A DELIVERABLE THAT RESEMEBLES JUST ANSWERING THE QUESTION IN ORDER OR THAT RESEMBLES A RESEARCH PAPER.

Direct Materials Cost:

Bricking Listing- Use this listing of Lego pieces to determine your material cost. Your only material used should be Lego pieces. Assume the following costs for the Lego bricks in determining the cost of your creation:

Lego Plates: 5 cents each

Lego Bricks: 8 cents each

Lego Special Pieces: 10 cents each (if the piece is not a plate or a normal Lego brick, it should be classified as a special price- any size or shape)

Direct Labor Cost: Direct labor cost are recorded at 25% of your total direct materials cost.

Manufacturing Overhead Cost: Manufacturing overhead costs are recorded at 30% of your direct labor cost.

Required: You should create a two-page maximum information sheet about the creation you build. The written deliverable should contain at a minimum the information listed below. However, it can not exceed two pages, thus you must also think about creativity when preparing your deliverable. You will also create a PowerPoint containing the following information and include a voice over power point in place of a presentation.

Remember you are trying to sell your project to the Executive Vice President of Product and Marketing Development; thus, you want to use creativity when presenting this information.

· A unique name for your creation along with the selling price of your Lego Kit. Make sure you use creativity in choosing the name of your creation. Comment on the reasonableness of the selling price of your creation and how you calculated the selling price.

· A discussion of the types of costs associated with manufacturing the Legos for your creation. This does not include the dollar amount of cost, just the TYPES of costs. Think through the manufacturing process and include all of the types of costs that you can identify that would be used in this manufacturing process. (Think about obvious types of items used in any manufacturing process.) You might draw a flowchart depicting the manufacturing process and comment on types of costs or use another interesting approach for presenting the information. Diagram in as much detail as you can, the manufacturing process of your Lego creation.

· Summarize all costs of production in a Production Cost Sheet format. One possible format is shown below (feel free to add any parts to the list that you might need– customize the list to your creation):

Examine Characteristics of Planned Change Cycles

What are planned change cycles and why are they important?

Follow these instructions: Powerpoint with  12-15 slides and a separate reference page.  Must be in APA 7 format.  Use the scenario below to develop the powerpoint Need 100-150 words per slide.  I will include the narration based on the information in the slides.  Very Important to follow the scenario below:

The leaders of the ABC Corporation are entering a planned change that allows them to utilize their summer lines of clothing in a new market, with the promise of gaining better prices than has been the case in past seasonal changes. The personnel of ABC understand the importance of this potential increase in revenue, as their retirement plans benefit with improved yearly financial performance. Last year, the personnel involved in selling the seasonal items had to perform several job functions they had not performed before. This same performance will be required again this year.

The CEO and the board of directors have indicated they think there were missed opportunities last year and are committed to gaining better prices this year. You have been hired as an expert in employee relations to make a presentation to all employees involved in this transition. You are to explain the opportunity the process provides for the organization and all employees in the potential increases in the employee retirement accounts from the increased revenue. Here is some background information that may help with your presentation:

  • Last year’s sale of seasonal items to the new market added 11% to employee retirement accounts.
  • The overtime involved will be more uniformly distributed this year than was the case last year.
  • Overtime will be paid this year, at last, for all additional work hours spent on selling goods to the new market.

Nonetheless, you sense there may be some additional areas of concern by the CEO regarding personnel engaging in this activity this year.

Prepare a narrated PowerPoint presentation and include the following:

  • Illustrate these new strategies for better management of this year’s planned change cycle. Provide examples to help personnel.
  • Interpret the potential for this recently introduced activity to become a crisis. As this will be the second year of engaging in this activity, confirm how personnel is better prepared for this year’s cycle.
  • Decide what you will do to address your concern and prepare the presentation as the opportunity you believe it is for all involved personnel.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists and should cite material appropriately. Add audio to each slide using the Media section of the Insert tab in the top menu bar for each slide.

Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

Explain Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory in an 8- to 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation. Include the following in your presentation:

Explain Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory in an 8- to 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation. Include the following in your presentation:

· An introduction to the theory

· A description of the needs at each level

· What is required to satisfy each level of need

· Ways that an employer could meet each level of need to help an employee become self-actualized (For example, to address the physiological need of hunger, an employer can provide a way for the employee to earn money to purchase food.)

· An explanation of how you could use Maslow’s theory to help you identify your own needs and set goals to meet them

· An explanation of the humanistic perspective of personality development

· A concluding slide

· A list of resources referenced in the presentation, cited in APA format
