Scenario

You are a new manager in a research and development department at an agricultural chemical company. Your department engages in high-level scientific research for new product development and improvement upon existing products. Your department also engages in business research to support your sales and marketing teams. While both types of research employ the scientific method, the approach differs.

Company policy dictates that business research documents be formatted in a specific way and include the following elements: research strategies, research methods, data analysis, and business strategies based on findings. There is also an expectation that the research results will be presented in settings outside of the R&D department. This may be in the form of a summary document or a presentation.

You have decided to prepare a manual for your entry level business research analysts that provides a guide for the format and presentation of their final research project. The manual will be a step-by-step reference guide for the completion and presentation of a research project. The manual will include direction on the elements described above.

Write a manual in Microsoft Word for business analysts that will assist them with the completion and presentation of a research project.

  • Section one should be titled Research Strategies and should include the following subsections:
    • Problem statement – Define what a problem statement is and how that evolves into a research question.
    • Research Objectives – Define what research objectives are and how they are related to the research problem.
    • Literature Review – Define what a literature review is, its purpose, and the type of information that will be included.
    • Ethics in Research – Explain ethics in research and why they are important.
  • Section two should be titled Research Methods and should include the following subsections:
    • Sampling Design – Define what a sample is in business research and how to determine strategies for a choice of sample.
    • Research Design – Define what research design is and the various methods used to collect and analyze data.
    • Data Analysis – Define data analysis and the various approaches to display data.
    • Limitations – Define limitations and how they can affect research results.
  • Section three should be titled Business Strategies and should include the following subsections:
    • Conclusion – You will explain what should be included in the conclusion of a business research report.
    • Recommendations – Describe how recommendations are developed based on a business research report.
  • Section four should be titled Presentation and should include the following subsections:
    • Executive Summary – Explain what an executive summary is and how to effectively present data in this type of document.
    • Presentation – Describe the elements of an effective presentation and visualization tools that can be employed to ensure success.

For this assignment, you will take on the role of a Vice President of a major organization. The CEO has assigned you the responsibility of educating the leaders within the organization of the importance of maintaining an ethical culture. The tone of the presentation should be of a persuasive nature as you will also be asking these leaders to take this initiative to each of their areas. As you compile this presentation, include the following:

  1. Explain exactly what it means to maintain an ethical culture within the organization.
  2. Analyze the role that culture plays in global business ethics.
  3. Describe and persuade on the importance and rationale for maintaining an ethical culture within the entire organization. Think about methods that could be used to motivate towards ethical business practices.
  4. Recommend tactical methods that might be used within each of their areas.

Use of speaker notes is required as well. In the speaker notes, you will provide what you would say if you were actually giving the presentation to an audience. Please write your notes in complete sentences and adhere to typical grammar and/or punctuation rules.

Philosophy- Ethical Reasoning

For today’s class, choose a case from the list below. Use that case to prepare a presentation, following the format at the end of the list.

On your final two slides, construct an argument for EACH  side of the question raised by the case (one for, one against) using an  ethical theory or principle as the main reason for or against the  morality of having an abortion in the case. Try to use ideas from the  four articles that you have read to strengthen your argument(s).

So: two valid, defensible arguments, one on each slide.

Then, in a sentence or two for EACH premise (one and two) in EACH argument, suggest how one might defend that premise.

Cases where there is a serious medical problem

Cases where the child will not be ‘normal’

Cases where the pregnancy is entirely unintentional

  • pregnancy caused by rape
  • pregnancy caused by failure of contraception where the potential parents are not to blame
  • pregnancy caused by a badly done vasectomy
  • pregnancy caused by the parties not knowing that sexual intercourse causes pregnancy
    • such cases would include persons who are not mentally capable of understanding this

Cases where the pregnancy is unintentional but where a risk was taken

  • pregnancy caused by failure of contraception within the known risk of that contraceptive method
  • pregnancy caused by carelessness in the use of contraception
  • pregnancy caused by failure to use contraception

Cases where the pregnancy has lifestyle consequences

  • having a child would prevent the mother achieving some life objective
  • the mother is incapable of looking after a child
  • the mother is incapable of looking after another child
  • another child would lower the family’s standard of living
  • there is not enough food to support the child
  • having another child would result in criminal proceedings against the parent
  • the child is not of the preferred sex
  • coping with the child’s disability would damage the family’s lifestyle
  • coping with the child’s disability would disadvantage existing family children

Choose ONE of these cases, and write a short case (either from your  experience, from the news, or a fictionalized case) based on that one  instance. Then prepare a presentation based on that case, following the  usual format:

Summarize the case or caselet.

What is the ethical issue(s) in this case?

What are some possible solutions to the case?

What reasons support those solutions?

What do you think should be done, and why?

What are some questions for class discussion?

For your final two slides, follow the directions above (two  arguments, one for each side of the case). Show how an ethical theory  (or two) that we have studied or read about might help you with this  case.

As an employee of a company that is considering investing in a foreign economy, you have been asked to research a country and make a presentation to your colleagues about an area of economic concern in the country.

  • Select a country in Africa, Asia, or Latin America to research.

Your research and slides will form the basis for your Unit 8 Submission Assignment paper, so please be sure to be careful and thorough in your research.

Present your information, with appropriate pictures/graphics, in a PowerPoint presentation. The main topics or bullet points should appear on the slides with supporting visuals, while the Speaker Notes area (the box located at the bottom of each slide which allows you to type in notes) should be used to go into more depth regarding these main topics. Make sure the notes include information from the sources you have discovered in your research. This is very important element of your assignments as it will provide both you and your audience with supporting explanations that the bullet posts simply can’t convey.

Scenario Information

Your agency administrator has tasked you with creating a cross-platform digital marketing plan that the Costa’s Customs can implement. You have been asked to summarize your knowledge of digital marketing and understanding of Costa’s clothing market in a slide presentation for the executive team which includes five other directors and the CEO. You were reminded to include details of how each digital marketing method will positively impact the company’s goals of growing sales and increasing brand awareness.

Instructions

You have been asked to create a PowerPoint slide presentation to be presented to the executive team that touches on all digital marketing methods from modules 02, 03, and 04 that you previously analyzed. These choices will need to be supported and justified by both your understanding of the impact digital marketing should have and the results from your data analysis in module 06. You will also need to actively fill out a digital marketing plan that you learned how to create in module 05.

Although you won’t actually be presenting, you should include detailed notes in the notes section for each slide that could serve as a transcript. Remember your audience when creating your presentation and include the following slides:

  • Title slide
  • Supply a more detailed and in-depth situation analysis than simply copying what is in the company background document.
    • List and define Costa’s customer personas.
    • Discuss company’s online competitors.
    • Explain the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s position.
    • Talk about various collaborations the company can engage in to grow its business.

  • Create a conclusion slide that includes a summary of why your digital marketing plan should be implemented by the executive team and how it will be measured to ensure it is successful.

Assignment should be 10-12 slides (not including your title slide and your reference slide) and should be in PowerPoint format. 

You will select two pathological conditions, from the powerpoints attached, related to one specific system that was discussed on this course (for example you can select Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and Arrythmias, which are both related to the cardiovascular system.)
