Case Study 13-1

AI-based software is getting smarter at analyzing qualitative data, words, phrases, and understanding the relationship among these words. These programs are able to analyze data generated through focus groups, surveys, online forums, call centers, help desks, and social media and are able to generate new insights. Such new insights could help businesses offer better customer service and products and services that are more appealing to their customers. Scotts Miracle-Gro, a major provider of lawn, garden, and outdoor-living products and services, recently noticed that a large number of customers were canceling lawnfertilizer service. Not knowing what was causing the problem, the company conducted a survey and asked customers to rank their satisfaction with the company offerings and other feedback. Using AI-based software called Luminoso (www.luminoso.com), Scotts analyzed the data, which yielded some interesting results. The reason customers were canceling the service was because they expected better customer service from the company. Although the words customer service were not cited specifically in the survey, the software was able to associate words such as “listen” or “not responsive” in order to come up with the finding. According to David Erdman, a senior analyst at Scotts, the company is now examining its customer service in order to make improvements. Luminoso performs its analyses by accessing a large database that stores common-sense knowledge and relationships (such as “if you drop a ball, it will fall”) that help understand how words and phrases relate to each other.

When counseling a  sex offender who was charged with sex with a minor, sexual molestation,  and exhibitionism I would first want to know the circumstances. I would  want to know the age of the minor, the details about the sexual  molestation charge and the exhibitionism. There are times when an 18  year old has sex with a 17 year old, that is legally a minor and this  would constitute sexual molestation. If nude photos were sent via social  media that could be considered exhibitionism. In my opinion the age of  the offender and the victim do sway how I would feel. If the offender  was a grown man and the victim a child then I would have a hard time  counseling them, as a parent I would think of my own children. However, I  would put my personal feelings aside and keep my judgments to myself.  The offender being ordered by the court to attend counseling could also  affect the outcome. If they do not want help and are only attending  because the court requires it, then they may not benefit from  counseling.

Exhibitionism can be conceptualized as a disorder from the stage of  nonverbal interaction (Hopkins, Green, Carnes & Campling, 2016).  Those who partake in exhibitionism often had problematic sexual  behaviors in their adolescent years (Hopkins, et al., 2016). Discovering  the root of the reason why the offender takes part in this would be a  priority. How to they feel? What do they can? What behaviors can they do  instead of these acts? Exhibitionism typically begins around age 11-15  (Hopkins, et  al., 2016). I would ask when the behavior started and if there was any  traumatic experiences that resulted in the behavior beginning? If there  were then those would need to be addressed and any feelings about that  dealt with. Exhibitionist often have substance abuse issues, commit  incest, have been sexually abused early in life, and have been  physically abused (Hopkins, et al., 2016). Discussing why the offender  participated in the charges against them and their past history of  substance use, sexual relations, and abuse could help them to find the  reason why they partake in the acts that have resulted in the charges.  If they are willing to work through their past and want to change then  they could overcome these behaviors.

Review the “Examples of Logic in Trifles handout

Review the play and identify at least three (3) examples of logic that you plan to analyze in your essay and briefly explain why chose each one. Remember, syllogisms are used to break down and analyze sound logical arguments. In contrast, logical fallacies are errors in logical thinking. Pick the logical concepts that will help you support your thesis.

Develop a strategic plan for your proposed health information system:

·  Patient Care: Quality improvement

READ: Before beginning to develop your strategic goal, it is important to understand your objectives. In other words, as you choose your Strategic Goal, keep in mind the overall impact you want this goal to have on your department or the organization as a whole. As an example, if you chose Patient Care: Sharing Data Across the System, you can start by thinking about the expeditiousness of information from the pharmacy back to the care team, and how such interface may impact patient outcome. A good acronym to use to sort through your thought process is PICOT (Population/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time); the PICOT approach is spelled out below:

·  Population/Patient problem – Who is it that you are trying to provide service for?

·  Intervention – What is it you are trying to do? Or, what are you fixing?

·  Comparison – Is there a possible alternative to this system? Or, why did I choose this system?

·  Outcome – What is the goal here?

·  Time – How long will this plan take to be implemented?

WRITE: The plan for your chosen Strategic Organizational Goal should

  1. Outline one problem an organization faces related to your selected Strategic Organizational Goal.
  2. Develop a solution to the problem identified that utilizes your health information system from Week 1.
  3. Evaluate the essentials steps in creating information governance.
  4. Articulate the roles and responsibilities of key players in policy, strategies, and challenges.

FORMAT: The Strategic Plan Paper:

·  Must be two to three double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style 7

·  Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.

·  Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.

·  Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

·  Must use at least three scholarly or peer-reviewed sources in addition to the course text

Art essay

.  Choose ONE (and only one) of the following types of art discussed in this unit:

  • Cave paintings
  • Sculpted female figurines
  • Ceremonial and tomb architecture

2.  Review discussions in the textbook reading and Lesson File regarding your chosen artwork type.  Pay close attention to the different theories that have been offered over the years explaining the purpose, context, and meaning of your chosen artwork type, including the names of specific researchers who first proposed or support the theory.

3.  Conduct research online about your chosen artwork type.  Find ONE (1) example of your chosen artwork to present and discuss.  Also, research and assess the different theories posited regarding your chosen artwork type.

NOTE: You may NOT use any work of art or image discussed in the assigned readings or lesson file for this unit; using examples within or related to a specific site discussed in the unit is fine (for example, you can use another cave painting from Lascaux, or a different ceremonial site similar to Stonehenge).

4.  Finally, write a 3-4 page essay in which you answer or examine the following points:

  • Which era does your work of art come from, and how is it indicative of the lifestyles of humans during that era?
  • What is your chosen artwork type and example work of art of this type?  Be sure to include date, descriptive title, material, and original location of the work of art, and attach or embed an image of it in your discussion post.
  • Which theory of those offered by scholars (and mentioned in the unit material) did you find MOST compelling and reasonable in regards to your chosen artwork type, based on your research?  Why?  Be sure to note the scholar who originally proposed the idea, reiterate her or his findings, and support this in regards to your specific image, including how any imagery, function, style, or context of the original artwork supports your chosen theory.

Cyberlaw Term Paper

This project provides you with the opportunity to increase and demonstrate your understanding of cyberlaw theory and practice. You will need to choose a law(s) that you are interested in researching. The paper must be 4-6 pages in length detailing the below questions. Before completing the below steps, please make sure that the topic is approved.

1. Thesis: What law are you researching (You are to choose a specific law. Please do not choose a topic)? What position do you want to take in regard to your chosen law? You will need to decide if you agree or disagree with the current way the law is written. You can choose to like certain aspects of the law and not others.

2. Background: What is the existing point you want to challenge or support, and how did the law get to be that way (This is where you would need to find cases, background information, etc.)?

3. Inadequacies: What are the deficiencies in the present way of doing things, or what are the weaknesses in the argument you are attacking?

4. Adequacies: Discuss the positive aspects of the law?

5. Proposed Changes: How will we have a better situation, mode of understanding or clarity with what you are advocating? In short, how can the law be improved (or not diminished)? (This is where you have the chance to change the law with your own ideas of how it should be written).

6). Conclusion: Why should and how can your proposal be adopted?

A detailed implementation plan is NOT expected, but you should provide enough specifics for practical follow-up. In making recommendations, you are expected to draw on theories, concepts and reading.

The Term Paper is due at the end of Week 8. In addition to the 4-6 pages of the paper itself, you must include a title page and a reference page. You are to follow APA Guidelines for citing and referencing sources. Your paper must be in your own words, representing original work. Paraphrases of others’ work must include attributions to the authors. Limit quotations to an average of no more than 3-5 lines, and use quotations sparingly. It is always better to write the information in your own words than to directly quote.

When writing the term paper you must have a minimum of 3-5 outside sources cited and referenced in the paper following APA guidelines.

  1. When submitting the paper, it will automatically run through Turnitin for review. PAPERS WITH AN ORIGINALITY REPORT FROM TURNITIN OVER 15% OR OVER 2% FROM A SINGLE SOURCE WILL RESULT IN A ZERO GRADE.
  2. PER THE STUDENT HANDBOOK, YOU CANNOT SUBMIT A PAPER THAT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED IN ANOTHER COURSE.

Discussion #4

Key words and Definitions

Credit rating – an independent letter grade issued by a credit rating agency that provides the market with an assessment of creditworthiness or likelihood the debt will be repaid.

Risk – the possibility of financial loss.

Default risk – the likelihood that a bond’s issuers will fail to make interest payments and then fail to repay the principal.

Summary: Key Points in the Article.

Credit rating agency Fitch Ratings announced that “any departure” from the US history of an orderly transfer of power stemming from the November 2020 presidential election could trigger a downgrade in the nation’s current AAA credit rating. The nation’s credit rating is important since a downgrade could create turbulence in the financial markets if investors lost some confidence in the US’s ability to repay its massive debt. It could eventually increase the interest rate the US must pay on new bonds.

Fitch issued the warning due to the “ongoing deterioration” in the nation’s budget and finances with no clear plan of how the US will improve its financial situation. Other experts expressed more confidence in the nation’s ability to successfully navigate the election and the possible “post-election chaos” that may follow. Fitch noted that the “potential for a disputed election” and “increasing political polarization” were concerns that might affect how the next administration tackled fiscal issues

Thinking Critically Questions:

  1. How do investors use credit ratings?
  2. How does a change in credit rating affect a bond’s yield?
  3. Why are credit ratings important to most issuers of debt?

1. Read Article

2. Answer the questions thoroughly ( Max of 500 words)

3. Cite anything in APA format

4. Include keywords shown above

5. Attach turnitin

Option 1: Research Paper

If you elect to write a research paper for this assignment, the text of this research paper must be 5–7 pages (not including title page, reference page, and any appendices). This paper must be in current APA format with 1-inch margins and 12-pt Times New Roman font. A title page and reference page must be also included. You must include citations to at least 4–7 appropriate sources (in addition to the course textbooks, assigned readings, and the Bible) to fully support your assertions and conclusions. This assignment draws heavily from the assigned readings for this module/week and you are expected to illustrate your understanding of those sources.

SOCW 6311 Week 2 Assignment – Evidence-Based Practice Implementation—Anticipating Results

Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice Implementation—Anticipating Results

Many social workers attempt to implement an evidence-based practice that seems to be strongly supported by research, only to become frustrated or confused when their efforts do not yield the same positive results as the research. This discrepancy can occur because they failed to recognize the differences between conditions in their practice environment and the conditions of the study. Moreover, they may have failed to consider and adequately plan for issues that arise during implementation.

To prepare for this Assignment, using the resources for evidence-based practices, identify an evidence-based practice that may be applicable to your field of practice. Review two research articles demonstrating the effectiveness of the evidence-based practice. Note any similarities or differences between the conditions in which the evidence-based practice was implemented in the study and the conditions in which you plan to implement it.

Submit a 1100-word paper that analyzes the implementation of the evidence-based practice in your field of practice to determine if you can expect similar results to the research. The paper should include the following:

– A description of the evidence-based practice that you selected including:

o The population for which the evidence-based practice is intended

o The problems for which the evidence-based practice is intended to address

o A summary of the evidence from the research articles that demonstrate the evidence-based practice’s effectiveness

– An explanation of any differences between the conditions of the study and the conditions on your practice. Explain the potential impact these differences could have on successful implementation.

– A description of the steps that would be required to implement the evidence-based practice including:

o Any factors that would support each step and how you would leverage them

o Any factors that would limit or hinder each step and how you would mitigate them

– A conclusion that includes:

o Anticipated results of the implementation in your practice setting

o An explanation of whether they will be similar or different from the research results from the articles

Be sure to include at least 5 APA references and citations from the following materials.

POWER POINT PRESENTATION WITH SPEAKER NOTES.

Prepare a 10-15 slide PowerPoint presentation, with speaker notes, that examines the significance of an organization’s culture and values. For the presentation of your PowerPoint, use Loom to create a voice-over or a video. Refer to the Topic Materials for additional guidance on recording your presentation with Loom. Include an additional slide for the Loom link at the beginning, and an additional slide for References at the end.

1. Outline the purpose of an organization’s mission, vision, and values.

2. Explain why an organization’s mission, vision, and values are significant to nurse engagement and patient outcomes.

3. Explain what factors lead to conflict in a professional practice. Describe how organizational values and culture can influence the way conflict is addressed.

4. Discuss effective strategies for resolving workplace conflict and encouraging interprofessional collaboration.

5. Discuss how organizational needs and the culture of health care influence organizational outcomes. Describe how these relate to health promotion and disease prevention from a community health perspective.

While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Just some guidelines: Do NOT read your slides as I (audience) can see the slide. Rather, further explain the information you placed on the slide with examples and expanded examples when you are recording in LOOM. Pretend you are delivering the presentation to a live audience. You would not “Read” all the slides if you were doing a live presentation. You would discuss what is one the slides and add examples.

Make sure to include speaker notes in your power point but when you record your presentation, you will also add more conversation than you inserted as speaker notes. Do not place large amounts of text on the slides as it clutters the slides. Rather you can insert short paragraphs, phrases, etc and then enter your speaker notes in the white space BELOW the actual slide, and then your LOOM presentation will be longer in length as you bring the presentation all together. Do NOT insert large pictures nor copyrighted pictures in your power point as it makes your file too large to submit. You may use 1-3 very small pictures if you feel the need to do so but pictures are not required. If your file is too large to submit to the gradebook, you will have to remove pictures, so please be mindful of this.

I will have to present this assignment to loom in my student portal. Do not include pictures for me. Thank you.
