Systems Analysis and Development

Part 1: Comparing SDLC Approaches and Recommendation

You have been hired to implement the CRM system for WeLoveVideo. Part of your job is to propose and recommend a project approach based on several models.

A meeting is scheduled for next week with the WeLoveVideo CIO to discuss your recommendations on the project approach.

Prepare for this meeting by developing a 6 to 8–slide multimedia-rich presentation with speaker notes that explains the Waterfall and Agile SDLCs and how your

team will guide WeLoveVideo. Include the following in your presentation:

• Explain the typical phases that comprise an entire systems project of Waterfall and Agile SDLCs

• Identify differences in documentation produced, with an explanation as to why it would or would not be used

• Explain stakeholder expectations that should be set based on the chosen SDLC

• Determine the pros and cons associated with each Waterfall and Agile SDLC

• Include a relevant graphic summary or chart comparing Waterfall and Agile for the WeLoveVideo CRM project, including features, team, delivery, and

feedback

• Identify attributes within WeLoveVideo that would dictate your recommendation on the type of SDLC you would lean toward

Presentation Note: The slides in your multimedia-rich presentation should only contain essential information and as little text as possible. Do not design a slide

presentation made up of long bullet points. Your speaker notes must convey the details you would give if you were presenting. Review the Create Speaker Notes

video for more help.

• Compose an executive summary to accompany your presentation that includes your SDLC recommendation and references to support your

recommendation. This summary for the executive team is typically 1- to 2 pages in length.

Format your citations per APA guidelines

Part 2: Project Plans

After consideration of your proposal from Part 1, the WeLoveVideo CIO is having a hard time envisioning how the project would be executed based on your

recommendations. She has asked your company to develop a project plan in both Waterfall and Agile so she can better understand the implications to her team.

Use Microsoft® Excel®, Project, or another project management tool of your choice (and approved by your instructor) for your project plans.

Design a Waterfall and an Agile milestone-level project plans for the WeLoveVideo CIO in which you:

• Develop a Waterfall approach milestone-level project plan with inputs and outputs for each phase of the project based on the SDLC with milestones at the

end of each project phase and within phases, if applicable

• Design a Waterfall approach milestone-level project plan with comprehensive SDLC phases

• Develop an Agile approach milestone-level project plan with inputs and outputs for each phase of the project based on the SDLC with milestones at the

end of each project phase and within phases if applicable

• Design an Agile approach milestone-level project plan with comprehensive SDLC phases

A comprehensive Change Management process

The final critical thinking assignment for this course requires a comprehensive Change Management Process, including its origination and implementation. To complete this project, address the following:

  • Choose a Middle Eastern organization in which you are currently working, or with which you are familiar. Provide a brief description of the organization, including its history, number of employees, products/services, mission/vision, strategies, etc.
  • Discuss the problem or issue confronting the organization. Why is there a need to change (e.g., falling profits, low morale, challenges recruiting talented employees, etc.)?
  • Assess the principle reasons for the organization’s problem or issue. What is the root cause and what are other causes of the problem/issue?
  • Identify the intended change you propose for the organization. Detail the reasons for the change, including any research you conducted that led you to this recommendation (for instance, similar organizations in a similar situation followed this strategy, or studies indicated this was the preferred solution for other organizations in a similar situation).
  • Identify a plan to implement the change. Be clear about the steps or processes that you propose to implement this change, including any resources which may be needed throughout the process.
  • Identify the measurement/control mechanisms you would utilize to determine if the change management process is working effectively. Also, include any contingency plans you would propose if/when the plan is not implemented as intended.
  • Finally, offer a brief statement about what you learned from completing this project and how your research in this course has affected your perspective/perception of change.

Case Study Flood Mitigation

For the Unit IV Case Study, you will focus on floods and flood prevention in your community. Start by conducting research around your community/location for examples of mitigation and flood prevention. For example, consider any rivers or dams in your community, areas that are below sea level, etc.

Take photographs of what you find so that you can show your professor what your area has done to address the issue of floods. If you are not in a flood area, research an area that does experience flooding, and use online images.

Using what you learned about your community and what you learned about past floods from this course, write a case study, a minimum of four pages in length, that addresses the following points:

Explain what has been done with regard to mitigation, recovery, and/or response efforts within your community or the community you researched.

Explain who conducted these efforts and the vulnerabilities they faced in their community, and include the role these individuals or groups played with mitigating, responding, and/or recovering from the risk.

Research at least one major flood (this is not limited to your community). Explain what caused the flood and the response.

What can your community, or the community you researched, learn from past floods?

Discuss the best practice efforts that should/could be used in your community or the community you selected to mitigate future flooding.

Your paper should be a minimum of four pages in length, not counting the title and reference pages. You are required to use a minimum of three outside sources as part of your case study. One outside source must be from the CSU Online Library. All scholarly sources, including the textbook, must be cited and referenced according to APA guidelines.

Additionally, include at least four visual aids/images that support your content (one 4-by-4- inch image per page maximum).Make sure to cite the visual aids or pictures used in APA style. Please incorporate those into your paper in APA format

Term 74

 Society Perspective

This assignment should lead to the term paper after the student has read the article carefully and entirely.  Use the following questions to guide your critique.

Term Paper

  1. Does the title clearly indicate what the research is about? Can you relate it to DM through the title? Explain.
  2. Summarize the study in one  paragraph (about 200-250 words)
  3. Research on the first three authors’ professional and academic qualifications and state if they have previously published on this topic. If not try to explain how they would fit on this topic.
  4. Are the research questions/problems researchable? Is the problem presented important enough to justify this study?
  5. Is the literature review focused on the issue? Does it reveal any gaps the authors wanted to fill?
  6. Is the aim of the study clear and shows what the study wants to achieve?
  7. Is there any framework or theory of DM used or applied in any way?
  8. Do you find the information/data used relevant to the aim/question of the study?
  9. Are the study results relevant to your group perspective? State your group in your response.
  10. Do you agree with the  conclusions made by the authors?
  11. Did the authors put emphasis on the most important results of the study?
  12. What would you have changed in this study, why?
  13. In the conclusion, were there any new perspectives on the topic presented?

Requirements:

  1. Prepare between 7 and 10 of double-spaced, typed pages in Word using 12-point NTR font.
  2. The paper carries 30% of the total grade.
  3. APA style should be used throughout.

Research Paper Death Penalty and 8th Amendment

Death Penalty and 8th amendment Assignment:

Research a federal public policy topic. Using best practices for objectivity and research quality, discuss the constitutional history, the political and social debates, and the current status of your selected policy.

Topic Guidelines. Your chosen topic must:

  1. Be a national/federal issue. Not a local/state issue. Most topics do play out to some extent within the states and that is fine. But the primary jurisdiction of your topic must be the responsibility of the national branches of government.
    • Example of a national issue: abortion rights is predominately a national issue driven by the U.S. Supreme Court. It does play out in the states and that is ok.

    • Example of a local issue: police misconduct is a local issue driven my municipal branches of government. It does play out at the federal level in terms of calls to the Department of Justice to intervene but the predominant issue swirls at the local level and therefore does not fall within the themes of this course.

    • See suggestions at end of this document. These are just ideas and you do not have to select from that list.

  2. Have sufficient resources/research materials available with which to do your paper. Very new or very small issues are less likely to have sufficient sources for your use. Additionally, the resource/research materials must be factually reliable and unbiased.

  3. Not be overly broad. For example, immigration covers many different things. Avoid talking about several subjects within one broad policy field, which will result in only a very superficial treatment of everything and not gaining any deep understanding. Instead, focus on one slice and explore it more deeply. For example, you can write about the DACA issue, which is one specific thing within the broad immigration debate.

*** IMPORTANT: You must present your chosen topic in an entirely neutral way. This is not a position or debate assignment. This is a research assignment. Present to me the research you have conducted on both sides of the topic. Remain neutral. Pretend you have been selected to teach me about the topic. You may choose to explore your own opinion only after you have completed your paper, using the concluding paragraph to do so. Papers that do not follow this core requirement will not score well.

Some questions to ask yourself to help develop material for the paper:

  • What are the significant milestones in your topic’s history? The idea in this paper is not to throw in every detail/development. Part of your task is to exercise judgement and select what is important enough to include and what is not.

  • Are there any national laws or Supreme Court decisions around your topic? If yes, these are significant aspects and it is necessary to give these them proper attention in your paper.

  • Does your topic play out to some extent at the state level too? If yes, what is going on among the states? Do these state actions contradict the federal position? Explore.

  • Is your topic controversial or debated? If yes, what is the controversy about? What are the major arguments on each side? Or, what are the politics around the topic? Or, what action or inaction is happening among government leaders?

  • Where does your topic stand today? Or, what is the next step that is due to happen?

  • Lastly, as part of your closing comments, what is your own opinion on this topic, know that you have done our research? It’s ok to not have a clearly developed opinion; use the space to explore where your thinking is heading.

4. Research your selected topic in an unbiased manner. Give both sides of the story. As a researcher you hold back your opinion, preferring instead to explore all arguments, all evidence. Only after you have reported on all your research, in the final paragraph you can and should explore your own opinion. Again, this should remain in the closing portion of your paper, only after you have presented your research into all sides of the issue.

Format Rules:

  • Minimum 6 full and complete pages. A cover sheet (not part of the 6 pages) should capture your name and any other items you wish to include. The 6 pages should be full text. Can’t come up with 6 full pages? The deduction starts at 4 points.

  • Absolutely no plagiarism. We discuss this at length in class.

  • MLA or APA format: pick one and use it correctly throughout.

  • Follow standard college writing guidelines. For example:
    • Double spaced

    • Times New Roman

    • 12 pt font

    • 1 inch margins

    • APA, MLA, or Footnote citation style. Choose one and use it consistently and correctly

page2image18397440.png

• Use quotations judiciously; the rule of thumb is to quote when you cannot reasonably improve on what was written in your source.

Common pitfalls that cost students points: Don’t do them!

  • Handing in late

  • Not fulfilling the absolute minimum number of full typed pages

  • Choosing state or local issues (federal only)

  • Choosing a federal topics that are way too broad, offering no deeper understanding. (Hint: a
broad topic, like “immigration”, is actually about many topics. Pick one of those.

  • Choosing a topic that is good but has very limited usable resource materials available.

  • Not telling the story in a chronological sequence, making it a challenge to follow what is going
    on in the paper.

  • Not using quotes the proper way and instead using them to fill up the page. If a quote is not
saying anything unique or especially enlightening, then there is no purpose to providing the quote.
Paper topic ideas (These are just a few to help get you thinking. Feel free to choose something else as long as it meets the guidelines at top)
    Abortion rights
Second Amendment and gun control policy
Gay Marriage and the Defense of Marriage Act
Race-based rights and the Civil Rights Movement
Death penalty and the Eighth Amendment
Hate speech and the First Amendment
Right to privacy and homeland security/ government surveillance Deferred Act

Unemployment Essay

Here are four individuals telling you their stories of how they became unemployed. In a multi-paragraph essay (min 500 words), apply the theories of unemployment to explain the type of unemployment that each of these individuals is facing and explain which of these individuals qualifies for unemployment benefits:

Two months ago, Marcelle used to work full time in an automobile manufacturing firm. “The factory where I used to work has closed because our market contracted so much, and so I was laid off. This is happening to people all over the country-all you see in the papers is that economic growth has fallen and incomes across the country have fallen. I have been looking very hard for a new job, but have had no luck yet.”

Until last week, Dominic used to work full time as a hair-dresser in downtown Cincinnati. “I decided to quit my job, because I want to move to New York City.”

Until last month, Francine worked part time at a ski resort. “Well, it is summer now, and so the resort is closed. I will apply again in the winter when the snow is back. I am not interested in working until then.”

Two months ago, Beauvoir had been working full time as a secretary. “I was a good typist, but I don’t know how to use a computer. My boss wanted to upgrade the office to computers, and so I was replaced by someone who is computer-savvy. I have been looking for another job, but it appears that I need to learn some computer skills.”

Develop a response that includes examples and evidence to support your ideas, and which clearly communicates the required message to your audience. Organize your response in a clear and logical manner as appropriate for the genre of writing. Use well-structured sentences, audience-appropriate language, and correct conventions of standard American English.

Dorothea Orem theory case study

When Dan (now 80) and Jane (now 65) began dating more than 15 years ago, both were emotionally charged to begin their lives anew. Well-educated and financially secure, they had a lot in common. Dan was a protestant minister, and Jane’s deceased husband had been a protestant minister. Both had lost their spouses. Jane’s first husband had suffered a catastrophic cerebral aneurysm 2 years earlier. Dan had conducted the funeral service for Jane’s husband. Dan’s wife had died of terminal cancer a little over a year earlier. Dan’s first wife had been a school counselor; Jane was a school teacher. Both had children in college. They shared a love for travel. Dan was retired but continued part-time employment, and Jane planned to continue teaching to qualify for retirement. Both were in great health and had more than adequate health benefits. Within the year they were married. Summer vacations were spent snorkeling in Hawaii, mountain climbing in national parks, and boating with family. After 7 years, Dan experienced major health problems: a quadruple cardiac bypass surgery, followed by surgery for pancreatic cancer. Jane’s plans to continue working were dropped so she could assist Dan to recover and then continue to travel with him and enjoy their remaining time together. Dan did recover—only to begin to exhibit the early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. One of the early signs appeared the previous Christmas as they were hanging outdoor lights. To Jane’s dismay, she noted that Dan could not follow the sequential directions she gave him. As time passed, other signs appeared, such as some memory loss and confusion, frequent repeating of favorite phrases, sudden outbursts of anger, and decreased social involvement. Assessments resulted in the diagnosis of early Alzheimer’s disease. Dan was prescribed Aricept, and Jane began to prepare herself to face this new stage of their married life. She read literature about Alzheimer’s disease avidly and organized their home for physical and psychological safety. A kitchen blackboard displayed phone numbers and the daily schedule. Car keys were appropriately stowed. It was noted that she began to savor her time with Dan. Just sitting together with him on the sofa brought gentle expressions to her face. They continued to attend church services and functions but stopped their regular swims at their exercise facility when Dan left the dressing room naked one day. Within the year, Jane’s retired sister and brother-in-law relocated to a home a short walk from Jane’s. Their intent was to be on call to assist Jane in caring for Dan. Dan and Jane’s children did not live nearby so could only assist occasionally. As Dan’s symptoms intensified, a neighbor friend, Helen, began to relieve Jane for a few hours each week. At this time, Jane is still the primary dependent-care agent. She prides herself in mastering a dual shower; she showers Dan in his shower chair first, and then, while she showers, he sits on the nearby toilet seat drying himself. Her girlfriends suggested that this was material for an entertaining home video! Although Jane is cautious in her care for Dan, she often drives a short distance to her neighborhood tennis court for brief games with friends or spends time tending the lovely gardens she and Dan planted. During these times, she locks the house doors and leaves Dan seated in front of the television with a glass of juice. She watches the time and returns home midway through the hour to check on Dan. On one occasion when she forgot to lock the door while she was gardening, Dan made his way to the street, lost his balance, reclined face-first in the flower bed, and was discovered by a neighbor. Jane has given up evenings out and increased her favorite pastime of reading. Her days are filled with assisting Dan in all of his activities of daily living. And, often, her sleep is interrupted by Dan’s wandering throughout their home. At times, when the phone rings, Dan answers and tells callers Jane is not there. Jane, only in the next room, informs him “Dan, I am Jane.” Friends are saddened by Dan’s decline and concerned with the burdens and limitations Jane has assumed as a result of Dan’s dependency.

1. Examine this case study through the dependency cycle model. The outer arrows show a progression through varying stages of dependency. The inner circle represents who can be involved in the dependency cycle. Where are Jane and Dan in this cycle?

2. Using the basic dependent-care system model, assess Dan and Jane. Identify the basic conditioning factors (BCFs) for each. What is the effect of Dan’s BCFs on his self-care agency? Is he able to meet his therapeutic self-care demands? Continue on to diagnose Dan’s self-care deficit and resulting dependent-care deficit. Now assess Jane’s self-care system.

3. Design a nursing system that addresses Jane’s self-care system as she increases her role as dependent-care agent for Dan.

What have you posted on your social media accounts recently? Was it a recent trip or office function? How much of your personal life have you posted online with very few security controls? There is a vast amount of information concerning ordinary people available publicly on the web; all you need is time and basic online investigative skills to find it.

Using OSINT techniques, conduct a passive online investigation of a senior officer within a publicly traded organization. Document the process as you go so that it can be replicated; use screen captures to prove completion of each step and include as an appendix to your report.

Write your report to include following:

  1. Full name and any aliases of your target
  2. Personal information (address, telephone number, email, and asset information)
  3. Birth date, age, other important dates
  4. Professional and personal connections (people)
  5. Personal interests and membership in user groups (Have they taken a vacation recently?)
  6. Contribution to blogs
  7. Presence on social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, and so forth; include account names)
  8. Professional networks
  9. Public records
  10. Criminal investigations or other newsworthy items
  11. Report the findings of your investigation. As this is part of an investigation, you need to provide your step-by-step process.

Your target, a senior officer for a publicly traded company, should have information related to every requirement within this report. Please read the rubric carefully before continuing.

Essay Portion:

Read the article “How users think about social media privacy.”

Then in 500–750 words, answer the following:

  • Discuss your understanding of privacy in the digital age.
  • Discuss vertical privacy versus horizontal privacy.
  • Discuss the moral and ethical implications, from a Christian worldview, within the context of digital privacy and performing a personal data search as used in the exercise above.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Refer to the LopesWrite Technical Support articles for assistance.
